Joint Commission names Codman winners

The Joint Commission has unveiled the winners of the 2008 Ernest Amory Codman Awards. The awards are meant to highlight excellence among organizations and individuals for use of outcome measures to achieve improvements in the areas of healthcare quality and safety.

Listed among the winners:

• In the hospital category: Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC; Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH; and Mission Hospital, Mission Viejo, CA
• In the multiple organization category: Novant Health, Winston-Salem, NC
• In the individual category: the late Shukri F. Khuri, MD

The Codman Awards will be formally presented to the winners on November 19, 2008.
