What are the three NPSG requirements for suicide risk assessment policy regarding hospitals with psychiatric units?

NPSG 15A's three implementation expectations include:

1. Patients being treated for emotional or behavioral complaints or disorders are to be assessed for suicide risk, including factors that may increase or decrease that risk.

2. Steps are to be taken to reduce any risk of suicide (when assessed) by making sure the patient is in the most appropriate treatment setting and receives appropriate care.

3. The organization provides crisis hotline information to patient and family/caregivers.
